Still Clinically Well Adjusted (Mostly)
May 2025 Check-In from the Founder of WeRestore.Tech
Hey friends.
It’s been a minute. Actually… since December.
Life has been a whirlwind of solder fumes, secondhand retail shifts, broken phone screens, and learning everything I didn’t know about running a business. I’ve been working extra hours at Goodwill trying to squeeze out every dollar I can before the equipment I need jumps in price from incoming tariffs. Startup life has this funny way of never really letting you stop being a startup. I think I’ll spend the rest of my life just trying to launch a simple website.
But there’s good news too.
The Blaze Accelerator was amazing. I’m still in touch with my cohort — a handful of brilliant, gritty, oddball builders like me. That community has kept me going when I started second-guessing myself (which, let’s be real, is a daily hobby).
Even better? The grant came through. That money helped me incorporate as an official LLC — Dartel & Son dba: WeRestore.Tech — and snag some of the tools I was dreaming about when all this was just a crazy idea. I’m finally seeing a little snowball effect from word-of-mouth repairs, and the workbench is staying busy. That part feels real. It feels earned.
The web store? That’s been a beast of its own. I’d never touched WordPress before this, and while the learning curve hasn’t been insurmountable, I definitely donated a chunk of my budget to broken themes and services I didn’t end up using. (RIP to that $59 “lifetime access” promise.) Add in a banking setup that’s still somehow stuck in a bureaucratic coma, and you start to get the picture.
But we’re here.
Still building. Still dreaming. Still clinically well adjusted.
More updates soon — I promise.
Until then, thanks for being part of this ride.
